The lodges

Three parks, three lodges, one journey.

Each Ishyamba lodge sits close to its park, so early starts stay gentle and evenings are spent near where the day ended.

How a visit works

From a card in the gallery to a morning in the forest.

Start with an animal
  1. 01

    Choose your animals

Start in the gallery. Save the species you most want to see and we shape a route around them, one lodge or all three.

  2. 02

    We arrange the permits

Primate trekking permits are issued by the Rwanda Development Board. We secure yours, along with road transfers from Kigali.

  3. 03

    Go out with the rangers

Treks and drives start early, after a briefing at the park, and are led by park rangers and guides who know the animals and the terrain.

  4. 04

    Return to the lodge

Afternoons are slow: a long lunch, a fire, your guide's notes on what you saw. The next species is a drive away.

When to come

The parks are open all year. Rwanda's two drier seasons, roughly June to September and December to February, bring firmer trails and easier game viewing. The green months bring fewer visitors and fresh growth.
